Mini Album for Faith

I'm back again, after quite a long absence I might add.  I have made many projects since my last posting.  I would like show you a mini album that I did for my oldest granddaughter, Faith.

I used some ribbon that I got from the Scrapbook Expo last year and a feather piece for a hairband that I got at Hobby Lobby.  I also used a Crystal Sticker by Mark Richards.  I wrapped the cover with some Bo Bunny dots paper and some black velvet on the Binder.

The closure is the feather piece on a folded strip of Velvet, I then put a flat bottle cap on the back of the flower and added a magnet.  The other part of the magnet is in the Chipboard cover with paper.  I like this kind of closure, I use it all the time.  The other end is glued down and I added some decorative brads.  I didn't get a picture of  it.

I wrote a little note to Faith to let her know that I love her.  I don't get to see my granddaughters very often, about twice a year.  They live in Rapid City, SD and I live in Milwaukee, WI.

The book is made out of A2 envelopes and cardstock,  I used Laura Denison's "stack the deck" binding system and went from there.  I cut the cardstock about 3 ins wider than the envelope and about .25 inch shorter and then I scored on the 3" mark and used a decorative MS Punch.  I added some miscellaneous stickers and rub ons to the flaps and matted the inside of the little card and added pictures to them.

I added tags throughout the book, some of them are removable and some are actually glued down.

My husband and I went out to South Dakota at Thanksgiving and I was able to give Faith the book in person.  Faith loved the book, and when people showed up for Thanksgiving dinner she had to show everyone.  I really think that whe will treasure it for a long time.

Hope you enjoyed the pictures, and I will see you all again soon.

thanks for following my blog!

A Year in Review

Hi everyone.  I'm back with another project to show you. But first I want to thank my sister for threatening me to get this project out here or else.  I love making things, but I just don't take the time to put them out on my blog.  Please enjoy.

I just completed "A Year in Review" by Kathy Files of Paper Phenomenon.  I hope you enjoy the pictures.

This will definetly be picutre heavy.  I made the book for a co-worker who is retiring at the end of March.  I love the way it turned out.

On the Slip Cover I used Tim Holtz Tissue roll. and modge podged it inside and out.  I then used Andirondak Achohol Ink in Carmel and Butterscotch.  I love the color combination.  and of course I had to add something that wasn't a flower or blingy.  so I went with masculine things.

Here is close up of the Key and Pen.

The next picture is a close up of the Clock.  This is from the Bo Bunny Time Piece collection, I glazed the clock face with Glossy Accents.  I loved the way it cracked.

Now I am going to go through the book in pictures and let you look.  I will do some narrating on some of the embellishments that I did.

I used a Tim Holtz Ornate Plate and glued in a Key hole and dangled a Tim Holtz Word key for a charm.  I was really going for masculine and I think I did it.  This is particularlly hard for me, because I really like blingy, shiny and pink things.

I had everyone at work write something on the back of tags.  The white matted ones will have pictures of people from work and then and the ones that I inked/ embossed and stamped will have the people closest to Bob sign with a white pen on the back of the tag.  By the way you can put a full 4 x 6 photo onto those mats.  I may even have some left blank so Bob can add photos of his Wife and children and Grandchildren.

I love the book there are so many pockets and folders.  I am taking group photos of each of the departments, these photos will go onto the larger pages, so really the book isn't even done yet.  I hope you enjoy what I have done so far.

Another long stream of pictures.

You may have noticed that I did use other lines of paper.  This is from the DCWV called Glitzy Glitter Stack.

I did a magnet closure for the inside file pockets for both the front and back of the book.

well thats it for the pictures.  I really enjoy making this book.  I love the design of it.  I have already made three of them.  One for my Mother (her birthday is at the end of March)  I made it for all of the geneology work that she does for our family.  I can't wait to have my sisters and her help put the pictures into it.  I love hearing all of the history of the family, my mom has been gathering all of the history over the years.  Then I made one for myself, (which I'm still working on).  I loved the Time Piece Collection.

Well I hope you enjoyed the book as much as I enjoyed makingj it.  I will be posting more projects in the near future.   Please leave your comments, I would love to hear from you.

Cherish the Time

Hi everyone - my sister does inspire me with her blog "For the luv of Bling", which made me get back on mine. I did a new layout called "Cherished Time. "  My granddaughters and are growing up so fast. As time races on so does the seasons. We all get a little older. I have been busy doing little projects and re-doing my scrapbook room. I will post some pictures a little later.
I got an email that a friend sent me, I took a quote from it, it goes like this. "Whenever posssible, life should be a pattern of experiences to savor, not to endure. I'm trying to recognize these moments now and Cherish them."
Time is our most cherished commondity in life, we need to savor it. God had blessed me with two beautiful granddaughters and I am savoring every moment.

This is the piece that gave my layout a name.  I used Tim Holtz embellishments, it was perfect.

The pictures below show a close-up of the tag and quill pen.  I used Tim Holtz Distress ink and stamps and tied a stiff feather through the tag.  I hot-glued a feather quill to the pen nib.

I hoped you enjoyed the layout.  I had fun making it.  I love, love, love that Tim Holtz guy.  He really captures the right pieces to use in a shabby kind of way.

Purse Photo Books

Hi everyone.  I know that I haven't been writing or posting pictures in my blog for quite a while, but I'm back now, thanks to my sister.  She started her own blog and it inspired me to write and post some projects that I have worked on.

My most talented sister made some purse books last year.  I loved them so much that I scraplifted the idea myself.  You use a photobook that holds 4x6 photos.  I will write a tutorial later on how to make them.  But for now I want to show off the books that I have already made.
